Pretty sick, my two complaints: 1) some parts like the hats, and maybe the vocaloid stuff in the intro were a litle loud 2) I felt like there wasn't a super strong motif, the song wasn't as catchy as I thought because I couldn't really pick out what was supposed to be the main melody: the formant/vocally synth, or the melody in the melodic sections after the drops. I've had this issue before too, so maybe I'm just being picky, but overall good song!

DJ-Zyzyx responds:

Thanks etz :D Yeah i would agree with you, since this was on older song I didn't feel like touching up the melody lol

Pretty dope, although I feel like the transition to and out is a little weird. It went too fast into a drop coming out of calm vocals. Usually I like that contrast but idk it just didnt fit here :3 Good dubstep tho

DJ-Zyzyx responds:

Hey Etz! Thanks for leaving a review :) I agree with you here, listening too it again I think I may have made a more suttle transition.

Damn near perfect, but I have a couple issues that are pretty minor. In my opinion the bells at the beginning could have been a lit bit softer to the ears, idk they hurt mine a little but maybe thats just my problem 8). I also think the saws in the drops had a bit too much noise, or maybe it just wasnt blended well. Sometimes felt like it was drowning out the chords themselves. Also, another opinion, wasn't a huge fan of the flute at 2:20. But overall really sick sound design with a second drop that I wish just had a bit more grit ;(. Also rip collab 8)

GG

KORAII responds:

lol rip xD yeah thanks for listening m8 glad you enjoyed

Reminds me of a song you'd find on the VVVVVV soundtrack. Also a pretty nice sequel to Ghost House. The only thing I wasn't a huge fan of was the drums, just cuz the piece itself is kinda everywhere (in a good way), and the drums just sorta go "Boom tss clap Boom tss clap Boom tss clap" over and over, and I thought that they could speed up or change with the track, because by the end of the first drop I wasn't really able to focus on the actual song, only the drums cuz they were just sortta there. Idk if this makes ANY sense at all. Sorry. Nice description also.

Schtiffles responds:

Yeah it definitely makes sense, I'm told I need to vary up my drums quite often, and I kind of dropped the ball on this one. Thanks for the reminder :P

The vocals are really great, but I feel like the song could be mixed/mastered better. There are some really uncomfortable treble when she enunciates some of the "S's." It started really strong, but then the guitars and stuff kinda feel like it covers up the voice. Give it a little pocket in the mix to sound louder. Good cover tho :)

Trackers responds:

I had no idea what you were talking about until I heard this play through laptop speakers... Then I was like ohhhhhhh I hear it now!

I was actually kinda suprised by this. I think the saw that comes in at :30 could be stronger, cuz I still feel like the original melody was too loud. The drop was a bit bizarre as well to me, it felt like there were just kinda wholes, like maybe add another element to it or something. Overall this is pretty good work ;)

Thanks for your review, Etzer! :D

I'll start by saying that the intro was fantastic. I think it really helped set the stage for the whole piece which I think most people overlook doing. Once it gets into the main stuff I feel like the pad is a bit loud, and definitely drowns out that badass lead. I think the drum samples you chose are really unique, but I am having a hard time figuring out if I like it or not because they feel kinda bubbly(idk how to describe it better). I also think there definitely couldve. Really none of these issues are that bad, but my biggest complaint is that it felt super super repetitive. It was really hard to catch too many differences in the track, and the repeated drum pauses in each drop thingy just make them seem too similar. Overall I'm pretty impressed with this piece, and I wish you luck in Nguac

AeronMusic responds:

It's made in 6,5 hours so yeah I can see why it sounds kind of repetitive, especially for the drums. I'm happy I could finish this in a few days instead of coming up with nothing.
Welp, gonna take more time after NGAUC has ended.
Thanks a bunch!

it sounds like out of tune or something... Like the bass is completely off with the melody in the drop. The snare is pretty loud, and there is a lot of treble, clipping and noise that just really hurts my ears. I think you definitely could've refined this just by adding a lot of EQ. Looking forward to future projhects.

EruptionMusic responds:

thanks for the tips:)

Really sounds Pokemony, more than any of your other stuff. With more pokemon-esque drums I could legit see this being its own standalone piece in a new pokemon game. Idk I really like it, and the drop from really happy and peaceful to all of a sudden chaos was pretty awesome.

Onefin responds:

A large portion of the Pokemon-y sounds and drums were made by LOrb, so yeah XD

This probably couldn't be a standalone piece in a core game, because it's far too original XD it would stand out being placed in the middle of a bunch of generic crap.

This song takes a lot of turns, some of them pretty sudden XD Glad you like it, Etzer!

Forget chillstep I'd call this feelstep ;3;. I think this could work both as a relaxing upbeat and a sad song at the same time, just depending on how I'm feeling that day.

Onefin responds:

Hey, it's Etzer! How are you today :3
